"Worst urological surgeon"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Renal (Nephrology) & Urology & Endocrine Medicine & Ward 6A/6B/6C

(as the patient),

Came in for surgery and the team of young doctors were phenomenal. But one particular surgeon was one of the worst doctors I've ever encountered in my life. I believe they have awful bedside manner and were condescending. They didn't wash their hands before examining me. Didn't bother talking to me, just stood in the background on their phone whilst their team tried to look after me. Didn't even bother looking at me or the team.

That doctor supposedly did my operation. If it weren't for their team that saw me everyday, I would have lost trust in this hospital

Dear lacertamd67

I’m so pleased to hear that the young doctors involved in your care did such a fantastic job. It is really heartening to hear that the next generation of medical professionals holds so much promise.

However, I was very sorry to read that you did not have such a positive experience with one of our surgeons. It certainly sounds like they did not reflect the standards of professionalism, communication and hygiene that we expect from our staff.

Your feedback is very important to us, and I have shared your story with the Royal Perth Hospital Co-Directors for the Surgical Division to ensure it is followed up appropriately with the teams involved (both with praise for the junior doctors and feedback for the surgeons).

If you would like us to provide a more personalised response with more detail, I encourage you to reach out directly to our Patient Experience team so we can gather information that will allow us to investigate more specifically. They can be contacted on (08) 9224 1637, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, or via email RPBG.feedback@health.wa.gov.au.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Best wishes
