"ED Experience"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My 11 year old child, broke their arm and present to the ED, sat in the waiting room for over an hour, with no sling or pain relief after requesting multiple times they were finally given a sling and panadol.

Poor communication about the plan I was asked whether my child had a X-ray which had hadn’t nearly 2 hours later. Confirmed fracture which needed manipulation, they only offered nurofen as pain relief my child was very distressed and in a lot of pain and the doctor said think of something nice. It was a very distressing experience.

Thank you for your feedback. This is certainly not the care or experience we want for our community.

I would be keen to speak to you directly if you would feel comfortable to contact me on 0429798312. This will help me to work through this with the ED team.

I would like to sincerely apologise for your experience and would love to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
