"Unexpected Visit to hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department Geraldton Hospital / General Ward

(as the patient),

I was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital last week after an accident at home in which I broke my Patella in three.  The Doctor and nurses and xray/CT in ED were all very efficient and caring. Something as simple as bringing me a cup of tea whilst waiting to be taken to the day ward meant alot.

I had surgery the next day and was in day ward C. Ortho Doctor (Lockie), theatre staff, along with nurses, physio & OT gave me excellent care and explained everything to both myself and my family which was important as I was forgetful after surgery.  Cleaning and catering staff bought me lovely meals and always had a smile. They all do a great job in sometimes difficult circumstances.  Every one was amazing, they are so busy but I never felt rushed when I was moving so slowly or talking with Doctors.  Bedside manner is as important as fixing the physical problem. Thank you to the team at GRH.

Dear deltaxe94

Thank you for sharing your positive experience of our health care on Care Opinion.

I was delighted to read that when you presented with a very nasty patella break the care you received across the health campus was of a high standard and friendly and compassionate throughout. To provide high quality health care there needs to be numerous staff and teams working in harmony, putting the consumer at the centre of everything they do. I will take great pleasure in thanking them all here for their efforts and ensuring the campus management team seek out those named and thank them individually on your behalf.

I hope your patella is healing and you are accessing any follow up care you need.

Regards

Cameron Ross
