I don’t usually share stories, but I absolutely had to for the paediatrician I saw. I think the paediatric outpatient service is beyond exceptional. I’m not even exaggerating or being dramatic in any way, this was the most validating, kind, and compassionate medical experiences I’ve ever had, and even saying that isn't enough for how I felt about the paediatrician.
The paediatrician I saw was patient, attentive, and deeply empathetic. She fully validated my conditions and experiences, listened to everything I had to say and showed genuine care and empathy for me. She spoke to my mother about how the mental health condition I got told I had by the doctor isn't "just being tidy" and told her how debilitating it actually is, despite years of my mother telling me "you can't have it, your room isn't clean". I am so, so thankful for that, it truly changed my life, and you could tell she was genuinely determined and passionate about making sure we all understood it. She advocated for me when no one listened to me advocate for myself.
She was not only professional, but also deeply human. She made me feel safe, respected, and heard. I cannot express how grateful I am. I think this is exactly the kind of doctor the world needs more of, and the kind I one day aspire to be. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
