Last week my 95 year old Mum was admitted to SCGH via ambulance with pneumonia and was transferred to Ward G 54. Immediately she was cared for by a fantastic, kind nurse-Amy who was so thorough, gentle and caring. Amy reassured us that Mum would be in good hands overnight and that enabled us go home and rest. Mum was comfortable and felt safe with you. Thank you Amy.
The next morning I was met by Dr Sanjay who kindly and gently explained that Mum would not survive this admission. He was so compassionate and genuine in his concern for Mum and her family.
Mum lived another 3 days and during that time was cared for by nurses Sharifa, Jinky , Helen and Andrew. Thank you all for your kind and respectful care for Mum.
Helen, your clinical skills were outstanding and your sole focus was Mum and keeping her comfortable in her final hours. we totally trusted your clinical care and appreciate all you did for her.
Sharifa, you were so gentle with Mum, she knew your name (and got it right ) and even though the pain medication injections stung a little to start with :) she trusted you. Thank you for being so gentle and respectful. It meant so much to us all.
The whole ward tolerated our large family in the corridor and provided a larger room and space towards the end of Mum's life. We appreciate the space to support Mum though her final hours. She had a gentle, peaceful death and we are eternally grateful to the clinical, patient support and medical staff that helped make that happen.
