"Paediatric PET CT"

We have had many experiences in Nuclear Med for a PET CT for our primary school aged daughter. It has been by far the very best imaging experience, and even though we're here for 2-3hrs, it somehow feels easy and seamless from the front desk to the nurses, doctors and technicians. Everyone is understanding, accommodating, professional & kind. The process has always been efficient and running on time. The communication is always excellent. Staff remember my child and that in turn adds a layer of respect for the journey we're going through.

We apply numbing cream to the inside of both our child's elbows before we leave home, wrap in Glad Wrap and our child doesn't feel the cannula at all. We have an iPad & a book to distract and occupy the time. We pack our bags the night before, plan clothes & a comfort toy without metal parts, and pack lots of nutritious snacks for our child to eat immediately after the PET. We only wish we could have this high level of care and expertise in all imaging centres and departments we have to visit. We are so very grateful to the Nuclear Med team and have full confidence we are in the very best hands.
