I was recently taken to Fiona Stanley hospital, after presenting at a private hospital with blocked bowel symptoms. I have always been in Private health, and had numerous surgeries, and cancer treatment through private hospital.
In this instance as it was emergency surgery I was taken by ambulance to FSH. I had already had a long wait at the private hospital, and then a few more hours ramping at FS. Once I was admitted everything happened quickly.
The care I was given from the wonderful ambos, the FS staff, the surgeons, the anaesthesist, and operating nurses was excellent. I was on my own, it was going to be a big operation, and the outcome unpredictable. My husband was at home very ill with cancer being looked after, our daughter had recently passed away and I was feeling scared and alone.
I was treated with care, and concern was given to all my questions. Post op I was in wards 7a and 7b where the staff were also very kind, professional and supportive. I was offered support from the social worker and Pastoral care. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. I have always lauded the fact I wanted to be in a private hospital. But I have to say there’s not much difference except you pay for a lot more in private. I was more than impressed with everything at FS. Thankyou
