"Breastfeeding support from the Breastfeeding Centre"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Breastfeeding Centre of WA

(as a service user),

I had trouble with my baby’s latch after birth and therefore issues with breastfeeding. The staff were so supportive and knowledgeable and recommended a number of different approaches and not just “tongue tie release”. They helped me see formula as a tool instead of a hinderance to give baby the energy to feed. When my baby finally first latched at one of our sessions, I was so grateful and happy that I burst into tears. My midwife, Jane shared my joy and gave me a big hug of encouragement.

Thanks to the support of the midwives at the centre, my baby is now exclusively breastfed and I’m getting to enjoy the freedom of life without bottles. Thanks for everything - the unrushed sessions, the cup of tea on arrival… it all made the experience so worth the early morning drives and the fights for parking 😀. Keep up the amazing work.

Dear listeneb33,

Thank you for reaching out to share your experience with the Breastfeeding Centre. I am so pleased that, with the help and support of Jane and the team at the Breastfeeding Centre of WA, you have been able to reach your goal of exclusively breastfeeding!

Your story is a beautiful testament to the importance of compassionate and knowledgeable support – and cups of tea! – during such a vulnerable time. I’m sure your story will bring hope to other mums who have challenging feeding journeys.

Wishing and your little one all the best,

Delaney
