"My husband and how he passed away"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department Bunbury Hospital / South West Palliative Care Service

(as a carer),

My husband had multiple health issues and for the last 4 years was on 24/7 oxygen therapy he obviously was detoriating and we had many hospital stays but eventually palliative care team were involved and home care package team as well as the many doctors and specialists.

I want to say I have been fully supported by all involved and in particular through his very recent passing the doctors and nurses from Bunbury Community palliative care, specifically Katie, Kylie and the two doctors involved. I say with much gratitude you allowed me to grant his wish pass away at home with me and his daughters beside him. thank you.

I think the medical teams and Bunbury Regional Hospital are absolutely wonderful and unfortunately I believe they don't get the recognition needed.

Also Belong at home our home care package provider supported us with care and compassion, in particular Clinton our co-ordinator and Jacob , Alison and Mathew provided Alan with so much loving care and dignity, they are a asset in this care industry.

I appreciated every every person who helped my husband during this incredibly difficult time.

Also the support shown to me by the palliative care team was amazing and the encouragement was so helpful, 24/7 care of my husband was ongoing for a long long time and I admit was exhausted but each time they visited their approach to me was so appreciated.

Thank you

Dear Loving wife,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and kind words. We are incredibly grateful that your husband received the care and support he needed during such a difficult time, and that you felt supported by the teams at Bunbury Community Palliative Care, Bunbury Regional Hospital and Belong at Home.

It’s heartening to hear that Katie, Kylie, and the doctors were able to help your husband pass away at home with you and your daughters by his side, as he wished. We know how important it is to honour those wishes, and we’re glad that their care and compassion brought you all some comfort.

We also appreciate you acknowledging the Belong team for the loving and dignified care they provided. It’s clear that their dedication made a significant difference during such a challenging period.

Your recognition of the medical teams at Bunbury Regional Hospital and the home care providers is truly valued, and we will be sure to pass along your thanks. Your feedback helps remind us of the importance of this work and the compassion needed in times like these.

We also want to acknowledge your own strength throughout this experience. Your words of gratitude are so appreciated, and we hope you can take comfort in knowing that your husband was supported with the utmost care.

Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us.
