"My experience at KEMH Emergency"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was absolutely terrified, I had been experiencing pain and extreme nausea for a few days and didn’t know what to do anymore. I’d never been to an emergency room, and never been a patient (because I’d never really (luckily) had the need to.) I felt as if I was taking up space for someone with an actual emergency, but was in so much pain and really needed help.

The women who cared for me at KEMH were outstanding. At triage as I was breaking down, the nurse held my hand and told me I was in the right place and they’ll help me. Every single nurse I came in contact with was kind, thoughtful and (I felt) did everything they could and more to help calm me down and do anything to make me feel better. I am just so so grateful for everyone there that night, they made a really scary experience feel as ok as they could. I just want to give them all a big cuddle and thank them for being so so incredible.

Dear gratefulpt,

Thank you so much for reaching out to share your experience at the King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) Emergency Centre. Your feedback really shows how scared and worried you were, and I am so pleased that the EC team provided reassurance and kindness to you at such a vulnerable time.

We will be very happy to pass on your kind words of appreciation to the EC team – I’m sure your feedback and recognition will mean so much to them.

Best wishes

Delaney
