"Medication"

About: Albany Health Campus / Surgical Ward

(as a relative),

I came into see my grandparent on the Surgical Ward recently and once again their medication was just sitting on their tray table. They have Alzheimers and require supervision to ensure they are taken. This happened recently as well. I feel this is not good enough especially when medication is involved.

Dear importerjb94

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m really sorry to hear about what happened—it’s completely understandable to feel concerned when a loved one with Alzheimer’s isn’t receiving the support they need.

We’re taking this seriously. The matter will be discussed with nursing staff, and we’ll immediately review our practices. Clear procedures will be put in place to ensure patients who need supervision with medication are consistently supported.

We appreciate you speaking up—your feedback helps us improve care for all families.

Kind regards

Kate Hambleton
