About: Bunbury Hospital / Surgical Ward

(as the patient),

I noticed the staff in the Day Surgery were extremely busy but very efficient and kind. All the nurses I saw who took me through to the surgery were also very nice , informative and friendly.

While I was waiting I observed an elderly patient who was waking for an orthopaedic surgery was cancelled for the second time. The lady that came to explain to this patient was very kind and arranged for them to get a bed in the private hospital the next time she also arranged food for them as they had been waiting all day.

The only bad thing I saw was an orderly who was sent to help the elderly patient get dressed and leave .. seemingly didn’t help

They patient, they couldn’t stand on their own . Another person and I had to help them.

While I noticed the orderly just stood there . The elderly patient got their foot caught in a rug and I believe could have fallen .

The rest of my experience was so good the lady who had to explain why the elderly patient was cancelled was kind and apologetic. I felt that the orderly who was a youngish person was no help and, I believe, put this patient at risk so I think they really need to be spoken too .. this was around 3 pm on that day .

Everyone and everything else I saw was great, good care . Bit of a wait but other than that all good !

Dear xrayex76,

I hope your procedure went smoothly and that you are now recovering comfortably at home.

We always strive to provide high-quality, compassionate care to all our patients—especially when unexpected changes, such as rescheduling, occur. I understand that a new procedure date has been arranged for this patient.

Regarding your experience with the orderly, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback will be shared with them to reflect on the care they provide and to reinforce the importance of supporting patients when assistance is requested.

Once again, I wish you a full and speedy recovery. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback—it will be passed on to the team.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Horsley

Service Co-Director
