"My son had a suspected asthma attack"

About: Cohuna District Hospital / Urgent Care Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I recieved a call from my son's school that he was having a suspected asthma attack. We called the doctor and they said to take him straight to the hospital. At the hospital we were directed straight to a waiting room where we were consulted by a nurse within minutes. My son was given a RAT test while we waited for them to clear a bed for him. The results of the test showed he had RSV. He was in a bed within less than 10 minutes. He was monitored for over an hour while medications were administered and tests were done. The nursing staff was fantastic and talked us through everything.  We were seen by the doctor who went over everything again and gave us a prescription for further medication.

Through every step of our visit we felt cared for and comfortable. I cannot recommend this small rural hospital enough.

Dear xraywz88,

Thank you for your positive feedback. Early access to care is really important during a suspected asthma attack. You also did all the right things for your son, connecting with the doctor and coming up to the hospital. Trust you son is doing well. I will pass on your positive comments to our team.

Bernadette, CEO
