"Presentation to ED with suspected Heart Attack"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

In August 2025, my husband and I rode our bicycles to the ED as he was having what we suspected was a heart attack.  He was attended to immediately.  Soon after I entered the room where he was being taken care of my husband went into cardiac arrest.  The rapid response and professionalism by the ED Team was not only impressive to watch but saved his life.

The emotional and frank factual support that I received from the nursing staff throughout this event was also very professional and critical to helping me cope with the trauma at the time.  The cardiologists in Perth commented to us several times at the excellent job the ED team did in preparing my husband for the transfer and admission to Perth.  They were very impressed. A stent was fitted that night and after a few days in ICU and CCU my husband is now on his path to recovery at home.  We are both forever grateful and thankful to the entire ED team for everything they did to enable my husband to have a second chance on life.

Dear CASurvivor

Thank you for your kind words on Care Opinion.

It was very pleasing to read how well the team at the ED looked after your husband and yourself in your time of need. I’m sure this was a terrifying experience for you both so hearing how well you both felt supported validates the comprehensive and compassionate care the ED team strive to provide everyone that come through our doors.

I will ensure your story is shared with the teams and they know how much their efforts were appreciated. I will acknowledge here, the appreciation of the entire management team for the efforts everyone who assisted you provided.

I hope your husband is feeling well and you are back out on your bicycles in the near future.

Kind regards

Cameron Ross
