"Exceptional care at PCH"

About: Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

Our 9 year old son was admitted for what we assumed was appendicitis in late August. When he went in for surgery it was discovered it was a slightly more complex issue which was dealt with at the time and he's on his way to a full recovery, resting at home.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in his care, particularly Dr Michael who kept us updated while we were waiting for him to come out of surgery; the fantastic ED team who were patient and caring while he came to terms with various needles, prods and pokes and the ward nurses and support staff in 2B and post-op. Every interaction, every ob check, every request was dealt with a level of care that made our boy feel informed and important. No one spoke over him or around him.

Dear Grateful Dad

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your heartfelt message following your son’s recent admission and surgery. We are pleased to hear that he is now resting at home and on the path to a full recovery.

Your kind words mean a great deal to our entire team. We are especially proud to hear that Dr Michael, our Emergency Department staff, and the nurses and support staff in Ward 2B and post-op provided the level of care, communication, and compassion that every child and family deserves. Ensuring that our young patients feel safe, respected, and included in their care is a core value we hold dearly, and it’s lovely to know that this was reflected in your experience.

We will be sure to pass on your gratitude to all those involved in your son’s care. Feedback like yours not only uplifts our staff but also reinforces the importance of empathy and attentiveness in every interaction.

Wishing your son continued strength and comfort as he recovers and sending our very best to your family.

Warm regards

Tony Dolan
