"Bathroom cleanliness"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

I tried to use the bathroom at the Gadigal Eye Clinic, and Id have to say it was one of the worst ‘public’ toilets I have been to. I wish I could put it down to being a one off but in all the years I have been going to the clinic it has always been very bad. This day was unbearable.

Being in a hospital, dealing with eye infections it was absolutely disgusting. This was around 9am so I can only imagine what it would be like by the end of the day. I feel there is no way anyone should use that toilet let alone someone in a medical clinic.

Dear Jenpp85,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience with the bathroom facilities at Gadigal Eye Clinic. What you’ve described is not the standard we aim to provide, and we understand how distressing this would have been.

Please know that we take cleanliness and hygiene extremely seriously. We have flagged this issue with our facilities management team as a matter of urgency and will be asking that the cleaning schedules and protocols be reviewed to ensure this does not continue.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable in helping us improve. If you're open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further and gather more details.

Please feel free to contact us directly at SESLHD-SSEHExecutiveServices@health.nsw.gov.au.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Regards,

Barbara Daly
Acting Director of Nursing and Support Services

Dr Pauline Rumma
Director of Clinical Services
