Just gave birth to my first baby in Karratha with the help of the midwives in the MGP program, and couldn’t be happier.
After self-enrolling in the program, my midwife Sheree was a godsend for my entire pregnancy. From the first appointment, Sheree was so supportive, encouraging and informative between my anxiety around pregnancy and other medical concerns.
Being regional, we don’t have the resources that metro hospitals have, and I was determined to have my baby in my hometown; I don’t think I would have had the same determination without the continuity of care the MGP offer. Not to mention the communication between Sheree and her b2b Lea, who was also incredible in helping prepare me for my induction.
I was lucky enough to have both Sheree and Lea present for birth, along with student midwife Jesse. For one of the most vulnerable times of my life, these three made giving birth a much more empowering experience.
Additionally, the other midwives in KHC were all exceptional for the duration of our stay in the hospital, really grateful to have such amazing staff support in a regional hospital.
