"Recent ED visit at Geraldton hospital"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

Feedback on a recent ED visit at Geraldton Regional Hospital

My mum attended the Emergency Department on Monday afternoon following a fall the night before. She wanted to be checked as she had bruising to her knee and foot. The wait time was pleasantly short, and she was promptly seen by Anthony.

From the moment Anthony attended to my mum, he was caring, respectful, and reassuring. She was in a lot of pain and quite worried, but he made her feel at ease, ordered an X-ray, and ensured she was as comfortable as possible throughout her visit.

What truly stood out to us was the follow-up phone call a few hours later. We honestly did not expect it and were so touched that Anthony took the time to check in on my mum. He spoke with my sister, explained how to strap the injury properly, and reminded us of the importance of rest.

I think this kind of genuine care is rare, as I believe many ED visits can feel rushed due to the demand on doctors. Anthony, thank you for putting your patients first. My family and I deeply appreciate the compassion and dedication you showed to our mum

Dear Sophw58,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Mum’s experience on Care Opinion.

I was very pleased to read how well your mum was looked after in the ED. You have described Anthony perfectly, his professionalism and compassion are at the centre of every interaction he has with members of our community. In a constantly busy and high-pressured environment he has still found the time to be empathetic and ensure that care beyond the ED is in place to ensure your mum’s injury heals as quickly as possible.

I will ensure that Anthony receives your kind words and I will add my appreciation here of the great work he does supporting our community.

I hope your Mum’s injuries are healing and she is feeling well.

Regards

Cameron Ross
