I had a parent in the office asking me to pass on feedback about our School Nurse, Lisa.
Lisa completed a SEHA assessment on her son and picked up on some vision issues. Lisa reported her findings to both the school and the parent directly. The parent responded quickly and made an appointment with an optometrist and her son was found to have a stigmatism.
He has now been prescribed glasses which, thanks to early intervention, will be for a few months and/or years but not a lifetime and will have no impact on his development.
She was very grateful for the support, professionalism and care from Lisa and for the service provided to primary schools in screening children on entry for basic health.
Lisa has been a wonderful nurse to work with, having been at the school for 24 years we have been blessed with some terrific staff from Population Health, and I would consider her to among the best. Thanks Lisa, for doing such an amazing job.
