My parent (in their late 80s) returned to the Emergency Department of the Albany Health Campus (where I was waiting for them) frightened, scared and traumatised after having a CT scan. They said they had never felt anything so painful. They were restless, shaking and had huge eyes. My parent had on one other experience of a CT scan and no pain was involved. They wanted to stop the investigation and treatment - they wanted to go home! I had never seen my parent so distressed.
My parent was vocalising in the ED cubicle to me what had happened when they went for their scan. An elderly person in the cubicle right next door overhead and I recall said to us that they experienced bad pain too when they went for their scan.
