About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I presented myself to the Emergency Department recently, due to a severe gallbladder attack. I was promptly triaged by the nursing staff and provided with a green whistle. Unfortunately, no beds were available at the time, but I was accommodated in a seat in the back. I was admitted on the same day and underwent surgery two days later. I feel the gynaecology ward has been exceptional, providing excellent care.

I was delighted to hear that you were promptly seen by the Triage Nurse in our Emergency Department, and that you were provided with pain relief to ensure your comfort, especially during such a challenging moment.

I was sorry to hear a bed was unavailable at the time, this can occur when the Emergency Department is experiencing a large volume of patients and regrettably, this can impact on our patient’s experience. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and discomfort this may have caused you.

It was heart-warming to hear that you found the care on the Gynaecology ward to be of the high standard you describe. We are incredibly fortunate to have such professional, dedicated, and caring staff working in our Gynaecology ward who are committed to providing the best care possible to our patients. I have forwarded your kind words to the Senior Leadership teams to share with all the staff.
