"Geraldton Regional Hospital Maternity"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Maternity and Newborn Services

(as a service user),

I had my second child at GRH last month and had another brilliant experience.

My doctor went above and beyond as usual, coming in on a sunday afternoon for my induction preparation.

The labour itself was stressful as baby was sqeezing the umbilical cord and heart rate was dropping however the staff were incredible. There was a calm urgency in everything they were doing, we had extra hands on deck and I could tell that although they never mentioned theatre that they were planning five steps ahead all the time. However with the guidance of the midwives baby was born very quickly in the end and everyone was safe and well.

After baby was born we were given as much or as little support as we needed, lots of time by ourselves to get aquaited and rest but always someone there if we needed anything. All the support staff were fantastic either keeping the cups of tea coming or sorting out sheets or towels, food was lovely and lots of it!

There were times during labour I was scared but I am so glad I was where I was, I was confident in the skills and expertise of the staff to keep me and baby safe which allowed me to focus on my baby.

Dear Baby2023

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely feedback on Care Opinion. On behalf of everyone at Geraldton Health Campus, congratulations to you on the arrival of your second child. It is always a joyous occasion when Geraldton Health Campus assists in bringing a new life into the community.

I was delighted to read that you felt well supported throughout your birthing experience, you have summed up perfectly what all the staff across the campus are trying to achieve. To know that extra hands were available when necessary tells me our processes to ensure patient safety are working well and can be enacted when required. I will ensure that your doctor, the midwives, support staff and everyone else that played their part in your healthcare journey are deservedly thanked for their efforts. I will add my own appreciation here of the fantastic work done by every member of the health campus team, they are all superstars in my eyes.

I hope you and your baby are well and enjoying time bonding at home.

Regards

Cameron Ross
