Mum in care

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Respiratory Medicine G54

(as a relative),

My mum was admitted to Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital - Ward 54 Respiratory, diagnosed with Rhinovirus. Mum was in Ward 54 for almost 3 weeks. While she cleared the virus and her inflammation markers were returning to normal, she sadly was unable to recover. Mum was elderly 85 years old and frail.  She spend her final days in palliative care in Ward 54. 

I just want everyone to know how amazing and wonderful the staff on Ward 54 are. They were so respectful and caring of mum. Every nurse, doctor, support staff, everyone, went to such great care of mum. I cannot be more grateful for how accommodating and supportive they were. They are a credit to the health care profession and to SCGH.

Dear zuluph58,

On behalf of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mum.

Though saying goodbye is never easy, we always hope that it is peaceful, surrounded by loved ones and filled with comfort. I know the staff on Ward 54 will take great pride in knowing that their efforts to support you and your family were meaningful, and that their care was truly appreciated. It’s a testament to the compassion and dedication they bring to their work, and they will be honoured to hear your kind words of recognition.
