"Rusty chair"

About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I have been in the emergency department for over 10 hours in a chair that I would not allow as acceptable in my home as hygienic.   The foam had been removed on the left hand side and the metal is exposed and even rust was present on that. How can this be possible in Australia that you seemingly accept this as a standard. I understand that budgeting and costs come into consideration for replacement of things but surely the health and safety of not only staff but also patients & caregivers deserve more than that.

Dear importerjb94,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I sincerely regret the discomfort and concern caused by the condition of the seating in the emergency department. The presence of exposed and rusted metal is unacceptable and does not reflect the standards we strive to uphold. We will discuss this with our facilities management team and have this rectified. We appreciate your advocacy and thank you for highlighting this important issue.

Kind regards

Kate Hambleton
