"ED- Unbelievable staff"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Emergency Department

(as other),

I went to the ED a couple of nights ago with my partner, and we were there for a total of 7.5 hours  to be seen, attended to, and discharged. I have worked in ED and acute hospitals before, so I understand the stress, but I’ve also seen very dismissive staff in the past.

All the staff that I saw this night couldn’t have been more helpful, genuinely caring and calm, which I think made the whole waiting room atmosphere much more relaxed. I wish I had gotten the nurses’ names (those on the night shift a couple of nights ago), as they were so genuinely caring and helpful towards everyone.

Dr. Adam saw us, and I have never worked with or come across a doctor who was so efficient, person-centred, and took the time to explain everything in layman’s terms. I saw that he also took extra time with people whose first language wasn’t English — all in a way that didn’t delay care for others. He was extremely personable and seemed to put people at ease in what is an extremely stressful environment.

I think it is very rare to find a doctor who has the medical knowledge, social skill set, and calmness to keep everything moving smoothly in such a busy setting, while also seeing so cheerful and genuinely lovely!

Thank you to all the staff.
