"RPH Admission Day Surgery and Day Unit recovery staff"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Short Stay Surgical Unit Ward 4A & Day Surgery Unit Ward 4B/4G

(as a relative),

My elderly old father went in for day surgery this week. We arrived at 6.30am and he wasn't meant to be there until 10:30am!! The ladies in the admission area were so understanding with him and said they would try and get him to the ward earlier. They helped him complete his paperwork and got him to the ward earlier as I had to leave him to fend for himself as I had work.

When they called for me to pick him up he was over the moon about how lovely all the staff were from his admission to surgery and then discharge and how caring everyone was. He even raved about the surgical staff putting on country music and singing along with him while he has his procedure.

He wanted me to share his experience as he does not know how to use computers. On behalf of my family and my amazing dad, we would like you to all be recognised for making an anxious elderly man have a heartfelt experience. You are a credit to our society and we can't thank you enough for all of your hard work.

Dear sierrayz85

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your father’s day-surgery experience on Care Opinion. Reading your message truly warmed our hearts. It’s wonderful to hear that our team was able to make what could have been an anxious day feel comfortable and positive for him.

Your words are a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. The kindness and care shown by the admissions team, surgical and nursing staff, and everyone involved reflect the values we strive to uphold every day. Knowing that your father felt supported, and even enjoyed some country music during his procedure, is such a joy to hear!

Please pass on our best wishes to your amazing dad. We’re so grateful that he entrusted us with his care, and we’re honoured to have made a difference for him and your family. Your recognition means a lot to the entire team, and I will make sure they hear about this wonderful feedback.

Thank you again for sharing this heartfelt message. It truly inspires us to keep delivering compassionate care.

Kind regards
