About: Kyneton Hospital / Perioperative Services

(as the patient),

I was scheduled for surgery recently. I arrived at the hospital at 7am only to be told that they were not going to do the surgery due to the risks involved. I understand this but I travelled 3 hours, took time off work only to be told at 7am on the morning of that it wasn’t going to happen. Perhaps communication a few days before would’ve been better. I will add that the nurses were amazing and very supportive but it was a very disappointing and upsetting experience.

Dear doradonx67

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I am sorry to hear that your scheduled procedure was cancelled, particularly when you had taken time off work and had to travel a long way. As you have said, this was no doubt disappointing and upsetting. This situation certainly doesn't align with our goal of providing Best Care to every person, every time.

On the other hand, it's great to hear that you were happy with your nursing care.

Should you wish to discuss your experience further please do not hesitate to contact me at kristy.mutsaers@chrh.org.au or on (03) 5321 6602. Further understanding your experience will enable us to look at your journey and how we might improve things.

Kind regards

Kristy Mutsaers

Clinical Quality and Safety Coordinator
