"My life in the Heamatology Ward"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / ASB 4N - Haematology and Oncology Ward

(as the patient),

To all the doctors, nurses, and the entire care team,

After a long and difficult storm, the sun has finally come out, and we know we wouldn’t be here without you. The care, compassion, and professionalism you have shown us throughout this journey have been nothing short of extraordinary.

Words will never be enough to express our gratitude, but please accept this heartfelt thank you for saving me and for supporting my entire family through one of the hardest moments of our lives. You held my hand, body, and spirit when I couldn’t do it myself. You answered every question with patience, even the funny and endless ones from my husband, and you shared in our happiness when meeting our baby.

As my husband often says, we now feel strangely at home here. It may sound unusual to describe a hospital that way, but that’s truly how it feels, every familiar face brings comfort, because you’ve all been part of our journey from the very beginning.

A very special mention and deep appreciation go to Rachelle, Sophia, Gaby, Natasha, Georgia, Monique, Katherine, Beatrice, Yumy, Amy (Physio), Gamilla, Greg, Erin (Dietitian), Ginna, Simone, Gracie, Alice, Amelia, Cameron, Sarath, Billy, Ellen, Jim, Taryn, Cindy, Mayumi, Jjoti, Amy, Prue, Leanne, Jane, and Camille, and of course, the biggest thank you to Dr. Carol and Dr. Paul.

We will always remember your faces with love and gratitude.

When asked what was good and why the answer is everything. The people, the incredible team you have built, the facilities, the cleanliness, and the constant support that surrounds you all make this place exceptional. There is an undeniable sense of warmth and humanity in everything you do.

And when asked what should change and why honestly, I cannot find anything. It was such a positive experience from start to finish. If anything, I would simply say: continue listening to and supporting your nurses. They are the heart of this place, the reason it feels so special.

We feel incredibly blessed not only for the positive outcome, but also for having met such an extraordinary group of people. You will always have a special place in our hearts.

With love and endless gratitude.

Dear romeogm96,

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience of your care in our hospital last year. We are very grateful for your kind words of recognition of all our clinical staff who were involved in your care on 4N.

We appreciate you taking the time to reflect and share with us your observations of the compassion you were given. We always encourage our staff to provide the highest standards of excellence, and your experience is a great testament that we are providing compassionate and empathetic care to our patients.

We will make sure that your gratitude and appreciation are shared with the ward team, particularly the individual staff you have remembered and named.

Thank you for sharing this with us,

Kind Regards,

Inge Vuuregge

Co-Director Nursing & Operations NCSR
