"Collapsed at a Sunday Market"

About: Leongatha Memorial Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as the patient),

I was at the Leongatha Rail Trail Market selling my products, I was standing when I got a hot flush and stomach cramp and collapsed to the ground. Another stall holder called an ambulance and I was taken to Leongatha Hospital

The only problem I had was on the day after being admitted overnight. I was told that a CT Scan would take place at 12 noon and the doctor would see me soon after, however at 10 to 2 in the afternoon I still had not got the scan, so I said I would sign myself out at 2 pm. The scan took place ar 5 to 2 and the doctor came shortly after, apart from that it was a pleasant stay

Dear bracepn67,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and that overall, your stay was positive.

I'm sorry for the delay in your scan taking place and the hold-up it created for your discharge.

We had been experiencing some staffing shortfall in our radiology team due to illness and staff replacement. On that day a single radiographer completed 20 scans, quite a high number for a day, and 5 of those were for people presenting to Urgent Care. These often need to take priority to ensure safe patient care.

I appreciate that none of that helps your experience. I hope it provides some context. We have been working hard to recruit to full staffing requirements.

Kind regards

Jenny Dempster

Executive Director of Clinical Services.

Thank you for your response, I now understand better and realise how hectic the radiologist was so I would like to also thank her for her taking good care of my scan in a professional and gentle manner.
