I had to stay in Fiona Stanley's Orthopaedic Ward after having Surgery on a very nasty, painful Ankle fracture. As my other ankle was fractured also, I couldn't move around. This was my first fracture(s) and I was in pain and shock and immobile.
The medical care was good, but I would like to give a special shout out to the Nurses, Nurse Assistants and Nursing Students who were cheerful, patient and treated me with respect whilst helping me with personal care such as toileting and showering. I am usually independent and having two fractured ankles (one very nasty) had me in shock and a bit unhappy at times, but the positive attitude of the Nursing Staff helped. I believe that these people are run off their feet and deserve our respect and better conditions!
