"Above and beyond"

About: Armadale Hospital / Medical Admissions Unit

(as the patient),

Last week, I was taken to Armadale Hospital via ambulance. A bunch of stuff happened and by Friday I was in the MAU. I wish I knew the ED doctors name, he was straight into things and I believe he saved my life. Im grateful for his help, support, and respect.

A few days into my stay, I had a really nice nurse, Bree. She was kind, patient, helpful, caring, and she went above and beyond to make sure i was comfortable, respected, listened to, and supported.

I'd also like to note that at that point, I had seen several students following around the RN staff, but she's the first nurse i saw actually explaining things to her nursing student, answering questions, and showing the student how to do things. This was the first time during my stay that I saw a student looking confident, eager to learn, and pleased with the opportunity.

Unfortunately I was moved to Colyer ward later that day and have nothing nice to say about that ward so far.

Dear bracezr37,

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to share your experience at Armadale Hospital. We are deeply grateful for your thoughtful reflections and are pleased to hear that both the Emergency Department doctor and nurse Bree made such a meaningful impact during your stay.

Your kind words will be forwarded to the relevant senior staff, who will ensure Bree is made aware of your appreciation. It is especially heartening to hear how she not only cared for you with compassion and professionalism but also supported her nursing student in a way that fostered confidence and learning. Feedback like yours helps us recognise and celebrate the dedication of our staff.

We also acknowledge your comments regarding your time on Colyer Ward. If you would like to discuss your experience further, I encourage you to contact our Consumer Liaison department on (08) 9391 1153 or via email: akg_consumerliaison@health.wa.gov.au.
