"The attentiveness of a staff member"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a friend),

I had been sitting at the same spot waiting for a friend at St George Public Hospital ED dept waiting room, I took my time observing the interactions between staff and patients for 3 hours in the evening on the 24th of October, I couldn’t stop noticing this particular staff member wearing green outfits with red watermelons. It was her calm mannerisms, the way she dealt with all situations, she treated everyone with respect including a couple who were upset about the wait and decided to leave, I noticed that her body language made all her patients feel very comfortable, I think it’s people like that which makes such a difference to your health care institution! In my opinion, she is such an asset to your organisation…….

Dear Patient Care Advocate,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your observations and experience from the St George Hospital Emergency Department Waiting Room. Your kind words mean a great deal to our emergency team, as we strive to provide the highest level of care and support to all our patients and their families.

It is wonderful to know that the interactions and engagement you describe by our staff member appeared respectful and enabled other people in the department to feel comfortable. We are so fortunate to have dedicated staff who embody the Core Values of our organisation in their daily interactions with our patients, by being attentive, kind and compassionate in what can be difficult circumstances.

I have forwarded your lovely compliment to the Emergency Department Senior Leadership Team to share with the staff.

Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Sincerely,

Vicki Weeden
General Manager
