"Hot wards at the hospital"

About: Rockingham General Hospital / Medical Unit

(as the patient),

I am in the Medical Ward. Why are the Wards seemingly so so hot and stifling? I'm in a sweat all day and all night. Is there Air-conditioning? I really feel it's delaying my progress.

Dear bracecb48,

Thank you for taking the time to express concerns regarding the temperature during your stay on the Medical Ward. I am sorry to hear that the temperature was unsatisfactory.

A report was carried out to investigate your concerns. Data from the Building Maintenance System (BMS) was reviewed to check the temperatures for the medical ward. All the temperatures were within 1 degree of the validated, set point. Temperature graphs were also all steady and failed to show any variance outside of the expected ranges.

Our Engineer checked every room and spoke to the current inpatients to ensure all checks were completed and were correct. We have also asked for consumer feedback to ensure the patients were satisfied with the current temperature. We have informed patients to report any temperature adjustments that maybe required to their allocated nurse, to make patients feel comfortable whilst they are staying in hospital. We recognise that everyone’s requirements are different and therefore are monitoring the temperature to a range suitable for hospital wards.

Reassuringly, the Engineering Department have not received any work orders for any patient rooms for temperature adjustments, and we will respond to any further feedback or temperature variations in a timely manner.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and I wish you all the best in your recovery.

Kind regards

Dr Asheila Narang

Hi

Thankyou for your quick response.

I did notice someone looking at the vent the day after I posted. I don't know whether it's coincidental but the ward does seem a bit more comfortable since then. I couldn't notify via Care Opinion as it doesn't let me until I get a response. Thankyou for the attention to this matter!
