"Not a Complaint but a Suggestion"

About: Royal Prince Alfred Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was admitted overnight in September after suffering a neck injury. Top marks to all the staff from A&E, to the ward and onto discharge. Despite everything around me feeling incredibly busy, all the staff I encountered were outstanding. They were always engaging, caring and kept me informed. A big shout out to the cheerful Porter who wheeled me to and from x-ray for being so friendly and calming.

I went back to the hospital more recently for further x-rays (Chris O'Brien Lightouse Medical Imaging). Went to Reception. I stood there for just over 4 minutes without being acknowledged by either of the two people working behind the glass screen. They even had a chat to each other. Starting to feel uncomfortable, I asked if this is where I come for an x-ray. I was told by the  male receptionist to wait a minute. I thought that it might just be me being oversensitive but I watched each patient who went to the reception desk was going through what had happened to me and I believe I could see they were also feeling as uncomfortable as I had felt.

My suggestion is that the receptionist acknowledges the patient as soon as they arrive at the desk, even if it's just a "hello, won't be a minute".

The Radiographer was lovely.
