I was incorectly diagnosed with delusional disorder, psychosis and paranoid schitzaphrenia for things that are completely true.
I feel I was treated with cruelty in the psychiatric ward. I was forced to medicate on anti psychotic medication that caused adverse side effects to the point where I couldn't function for nearly three years. I believe the tribunal took sides with psychiatrists over mine simply because they're psychiatrists. When I was allocated with a different psychiatrist he confirmed that I don't have psychosis of any kind but for several months has claimed that he'll put this in writing and never does. He has withheld medication for anxiety which I urgently need relief from but my GP cannot follow through until he completes his report.
I complained to AHPRA, HaDSCO, the ombudsman, the hospital, the director of country mental health services, the chief psychiatrist both state and federal but nobody will follow through. I also raised my concerns with the attorney general who has also ignored me. In my opinion, the system is designed to cover for psychiatrists and people in positions of power, it makes sure that mental health patients have no voice and remain powerless. It seemingly makes sure that there's no consequences or accountability for what I believe to be malpractice or cruel treatment. I believe the system is flawed and the Australian culture allows this. The anxiety I experience is so overwhelming I want to hurt myself to stop it but because of the cruel treatment I've received by the system I won't ask for help again.
