About: Kalgoorlie Allied Health WACHS Telehands Program

(as a parent/guardian),

10 days ago my son injured his hand playing sport. He plays a number of sports competitively at a high level so I was concerned how this injury may affect his ability to play. We were referred to the WACHS Telehands Service for follow up.

We received a phone call from Barb, who was knowledgeable, professional and reassuring about my concerns. Her consultation involved both myself and my son making sure we both understood the injury and addressed all of our questions. She gave us treatment options and even suggested local providers we could use for splinting (she was based in the South West and we are based in the Goldfields). 

At the conclusion of this appointment I felt that my concerns regarding his injury had been acknowledged and confident that he was getting the most appropriate treatment. Thankyou Barb for a wonderful interaction. WACHS is lucky to have you on staff!

It’s wonderful to know that her support helped you feel reassured and confident in the treatment plan. WA Country Health Service uses innovative ways to deliver the best care possible and the Telehands Service is an excellent example of this. Our virtual team ensure country patients, including those in the Goldfields, get equitable access to treatment.
