"My experience with health care professionals/and colonoscopy"

About: Mount Beauty Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a colonoscopy 6 months ago and felt very left out as a person by my surgeon and their endoscopy nurse.  I had to have a second one 6 months later, and was able to speak honestly to the sister in charge of day surgery at Mt Beauty Hospital, Tanya.

Tanya listened, and contacted both the surgeon and the aneathisist with my concerns.  The difference in the way I was approached and treated was amazing.  And Tanya and all the nursing staff in day surgery are the nicest, most caring, happy professionals I have encountered.  They made me feel cared for, and that my feelings were important, and that they were available to me.

Dear inspirext66,

Thank you for your feedback. It is wonderful to hear that you were able to have a more positive experience for the 2nd procedure.

I am sorry that you didn't feel included in your procedure planning for your 1st procedure 6 months ago.

Thank you for trusting the team and speaking up about your concerns. It helped the team meet your individual needs on the day.

Keep advocating for yourself during medical appointments and ask the questions you need to ask.

Kind regards

Tanya
