"Could have done more"

About: Harvey Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I took my relative to Accident and Emergency, they couldn't see out of one eye and was visibly in excruciating pain. You couldn't even get though the door without buzzing the intercom. After 10 minutes, a triage nurse let us in and seemingly wasn't interested in admitting the patient, saying they don't have doctors,  and there is not much they can do, telling us to drive to bunbury. I believe they could have done so much more. Pain relief, would have helped.

Dear oscaryg68

Thank you for reaching out to let us know your experience at Harvey Hospital.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations when you attended our Emergency Department.

Harvey Hospital does have Drs employed in our Emergency Department, though occasionally there may be short notice gaps due to issues such as sick leave, etc. On those rare occasions where a doctor is not available Harvey Hospital is able to utilise our world leading Emergency Telehealth Service (ETS) where patients can be reviewed remotely by Emergency Doctors.

I would like to discuss this you directly to see how we can improve our services. If you wish, can you please give me a call on 0429 323 174.

Yours sincerely,

Barry Moroney

Director of Nursing
