"Improper hand hygiene in opthalmology clinic"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Ophthalmology - Outpatient Clinic A

(as a service user),

We were attending our outpatient opthalmology appointment at PCH and I noted the nurse didn't perform the proper hand hygiene prior to putting eye drops in my child's eye. They fitted gloves and then saw another patient in the waiting area before seeing my child and didn't change their gloves or perform hand hygiene in between. When I raised this concern I felt  it was brushed off.
