About: Armadale Hospital Silver Chain Service Centre Metro South East

(as a carer),

I am the sole carer to my parent, who has leg ulcers and pressure sores. Over the last 12 months I feel they have been kicked out and seemingly neglected by the doctors at Armadale Hospital.

At our very first family meeting back in early 2025, my parent's care team was happy to discharge them with black necrotic leg wounds. I brought it to their attention about the state of the wounds and how my parent was unfit for discharge. They very quickly changed their minds.

My parent changed doctor after that first family meeting. The next doctor seemingly kicked my parent out, with a active infection, leading to a failed discharge and back in hospital. The staff told me they rang the police on myself, which I believe they didn't. This time, one doctor that hasnt been my parent's doctor and only met once has deemed my parent unfit for TCC after reading a few nights, not actually taking time to ask my parent what they want. I feel they have now set my parent up to fail again.

We will have sliver chain come out to my parent for 3 weeks, every second day for wound care, after that, it will be 3 times a week. It has been 12 months since I have actively cared for my parent in our home and all of a sudden sliver chain gives 2 rats about my shoulder. I feel we have been bullied by people who are meant to make us feel safe and supported. In future I will DAMA my parent for their own mental well-being as well as my own.

I feel this Hospital doesn't actually care nor hold any responsibility when called out for what I see as the lack of it. I also feel the social worker team is just as bad. As I understand it, their job is meant to help the whole family. This team has let to more emotional stress for me then they are worth.

I brought up TCC 2 weeks ago and only yesterday afternoon before they looked into it. In my opinion, who ever is in charge of this hospital needs to come and have a look at it. I feel it's horrible here. I feel it is such a bad look when you eventually get let in to a ward to see and hear staff having seemingly personal conversations instead of working.

Based on my experience, over my dead body will my parent ever be back here.

Update posted by GiveACarerABreak (a carer)

I have made complaints in the past. I have found that the email doesn't work and as for ringing and making a complaint, got through made a complaint, asked to be updated within 2 working weeks and when I rang back they had no idea who I was or what my complaint was about. I have now taken the apparent lack of care I have experienced to the local mp. I refuse to be treated at Armadale again, same for my parent.
