We arrived at the emergency department at 11am. My husband had a fall and was very stiff and sore. We weren't sure if he had broken some ribs or a bone in his shoulder. My husband was triaged and we began our wait. They have a wonderful system that allows you to know where you are in the queue and will provide any information about your case to ensure you are kept up to date. Craig was the person charged with this job. It made us feel noticed and he explained the different sections of the emergency department and why some people had different wait times to others. Once we were given a bed the nurses were very thorough and explained what they were doing and why. Dr Wayne was the resident medical officer and she was amazing. She listened to everything my husband and I were saying. Her explanations of his pain and feelings were very understandable. X-rays and bloods were done and the results were discussed at our level which made us feel confident about my husband's recovery at home. We left the hospital at 5.30pm
We often hear bad reports about the hospital but our experience was really good. All the staff were very knowledgeable and caring. Thank you Maitland Hospital
