"Tetanus vaccine"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Can’t believe that a young patient with a laceration that needed sutures from an injury on a piece of metal didn’t get a tetanus vaccination.  Yes I believe the patient was asked, replied they didn’t know when they had their last one.  Was then told to go to GP if they didn’t and the patient then walked out of ED.  Irresponsible medical advise, in my opinion, if in doubt about tetanus vaccine you vaccinate especially a tradie who is working outdoors.

Dear stonehn93,

Thank you for your letter in Care Opinion.

I would be very appreciative if you could contact me to give some details so that I can follow up with staff regarding this situation. We do usually give a tetanus if it hasn't been given in the past 5 years.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely

Caroline Booker
