"Pregnancy, labour, birth, aftercare"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

What happened:

I was cared for by Saskia through late second trimester/third tri part of my pregnancy and during the birth of my third baby. Even though my pregnancy went all the way to 41.3 weeks and things didn’t go exactly as planned, she was a constant source of calm, reassurance, and professionalism. When labour suddenly progressed extremely quickly (less than two hours from start to finish!), Saskia supported me through every moment with confidence, grounding energy, and genuine compassion.

How I felt:

I felt completely taken care of. Truely seen, heard, and supported. Saskia answered every one of my “silly questions” without judgement and made me feel safe asking anything. Her one on one care made such a difference. she made what could’ve been an overwhelming experience feel manageable, empowering and even beautiful. Despite the intensity and speed of the birth she anchored me, comforted me, and guided me in a way I’ll never forget.

I’m so grateful I chose the team at King Eddy’s birthing centre and I feel incredibly lucky that Saskia was my midwife. She made the whole experience from the long wait at the end of pregnancy to the fast, intense labour something I will remember positively for the rest of my life. I am leaving feeling cared for, respected, and supported in every way.

Dear leoec36,

Congratulations on the birth of your third baby! I loved reading about your positive experience at the King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) Family Birth Centre (FBC). It is truly heartwarming to hear how well supported, safe and cared for you felt with your midwife, Saskia. It’s clrear from your feedback how incredibly reassuring you found it to have her with you every step of the way – especially when things unfolded so quickly!

We will be delighted to share this feedback with Saskia and the FBC team.

Best wishes,

Delaney
