"Home cleaning"

About: Indigo@Home

(as a relative),

I don't want to tell a story - i just want to comment on what could make our experience better.

My spouse has Dementia and we are allocated 1.5 hours a week cleaning. With Alpine Health we usually get 1 hour cleaning and sometimes none. They say they are short staffed, or not enough people to cover holidays.

The person we usually get is great - hard worker and great with my spouse. The bonus for us getting cleaning is that I don't have to keep asking them to clean up - once a week my spouse cleans up because someone is coming.

Apart from not always getting our cleaning, the other frustrations are when a new person comes along and especially if I don't know its a new person. I am usually here but if our roster has changed I may be at my exercise class and I'm not here to tell the person what needs doing. For people with dementia familiarity is important. Sometimes our roster gets changed the  day before from first thing in morning to 2.30. I don't want to put aside the whole day in case our roster gets changed so we may have to miss out for that week.

Dear leopardjp83,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We really appreciate your honesty and the time you’ve taken to explain your experience.

We understand how important consistency and familiarity are, especially for someone with Dementia, and we acknowledge the frustration caused by missed or shortened cleaning visits and last-minute roster changes.

Staffing is a real issue not just for Alpine Health but across most providers, and we are actively working to reduce its impact on our services.

I will look into this further and would be happy to discuss it with you if you would like. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our service and better support you and your spouse.

Kind regards,

Peter Burgess
