"St George Emergency Department"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I’m not sure if the St George Emergency team will ever see this, but I truly hope they do. Four nights ago, my son was rushed in after a severe post-tonsillectomy haemorrhage, losing a significant amount of blood. From the moment we arrived, everything moved with urgency and precision — the front nurse asked a few quick questions and immediately escorted us through, where a full team of doctors and nurses were already waiting and ready to act.

Despite trying to stay calm on the outside, I was overwhelmed with fear on the inside. Yet this group of complete strangers to me came together with such professionalism, compassion, and teamwork to care for my son. Dr Keith not only reassured me that he would be okay, but also took the time to check that I was coping, which meant more than he could know. The nurses were gentle, attentive, and comforting, creating a sense of safety at a time when everything felt terrifying.

I wish I know every one of their names. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire emergency team that night. Their swift action, kindness, and dedication turned one of the most frightening moments of my life into a moment of hope. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything you did for my son and for the care you showed to our family.
