About: Lives Lived Well - Katoomba (Dianella Cottage)

(as the patient),

I am 62 years old and approximately 2 years ago I lost my job and started drinking a lot more. I have always been a drinker since i was 16 yo.

Prior to losing job I would drink on 3-4 days a week and after I was getting smashed every day 10-20 beers a day, which was severely affecting my health and family life.

I went to see my local GP and she advised that I should see a counselor which I was given the info for.

I contacted with Dianella cottage in Katoomba, and after lots of meetings with Pia, whom without Pia's assistance i could very well be deceased.

I am now 4 months without alcohol and ongoing, the follow up calls from Pia are a magnificent help with my struggles and I always look forward to them. 

I am also now back in employment whereas this would have been impossible to do if I was still on the booze.

The care and follow ups from this place and Pia have been exemplary and i would recommend Dianella and Pia to anyone in a similar position.

Hello spook2025,

Thank you for sharing some of your experiences and how life is going now.

It sounds like you had a great GP who was able to point you in our direction, it's good to hear that they were able to support you in that time.

I am glad that you were able to build that connection with Pia and I can hear how much her supports through the process have helped. It is a great team in Katoomba and I am sure they will love to hear your message, I will pass it on to them.
