"My mums kidney cancer"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / L2/L3 NCCC - Cancer & Haematology Clinics - Outpatient Department Prince of Wales Hospital / L4 NCCC - Haematology Oncology Day Centre (HODC)

(as a relative),

After mum was feeling unwell 4 months ago, gp referred us to diabetes centre at powh with high sugar levels. The nurse Elsy was helpful with seeing us earlier than the booked specialist appointment 5 weeks away. After qualifying mums weight loss as a concern we were quickly directed to ultrasound which returned with a large tumour on her right kidney. This is when the oncology dept at prince of wales tookover.

Professor Elizabeth and her team, Dr ben and cancer Coordinator Vanessa gave us direction , support and premium guidance through a very hard time in our life. World class treatment plan with thorough communication  week by week .

We've had 4 cycles nearly done with scans pending soon with 2 more cycles booked in. Hopefully we ring that bell and have mum around for many years to come, but we couldn't have done it without these special people who I will be grateful for eternity.

Dear geno,

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your recent experience in our hospital. We are very grateful for your kind words of recognition of our clinical staff who were involved in your mother's care.

We strongly focus on Person Centred & Compassionate care which is delivered with the highest standard especially patients are in the very challenging stages of their lives, especially when undergoing cancer treatment.

We are delighted to read how impressed you were with your experience and how grateful you are for the staff's dedication and professionalism. We will make sure that your kind words of gratitude and appreciation are shared with Dr Hover, Dr Ben and Vanessa.

I am wishing your mother all the best with her ongoing treatment.

Kindest regards,

Inge Vuuregge

Co-Director of Nursing & Operations NCSR
