"Our 17 days in Bunbury NICU"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as a parent/guardian),

Just wanting to thank my beautiful nurses at the Bunbury NICU and also Doctor Hillary who saved not only my daughters life but my own.

Dr Hillary literally saved my daughters life my minutes maybe even seconds. We ended up having an emergency c section and she was just so onto it, made all the right calls & I don’t know if she would be alive if Dr Hillary wasn’t there. No words could ever be enough for what she has done.

My NICU nurses, my daughters first ‘Aunties’. I cannot thank you enough for keeping my daughter alive but also keeping me going. The midnight pumping, the breakdowns because I couldn’t see my son while caring for my daughter. They felt like family to me. They always backed me when I felt I wanted to try something. The even wheeled my bed into meet her when I couldn’t be awake for the c section. They let me rest when I felt I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer & also I knew my daughter was in safe hands with them. I will never ever forget them, I genuinely miss them since coming home.

Every single one of them will forever be in my daughter’s story and she will know about them.

Special mention to Amy, Steph, Sumi, Mira, Andrea, Jessie, Tara, Jess, the nurse who called the paeds up when I wanted to change feeds (sorry didn’t get your name :() and any others I haven’t mentioned you were all just the best and I wouldn’t have coped without you.

Dear Holmn25,

Thank you for taking the time to share your birthing experience with Care Opinion. Your words are truly beautiful and deeply moving, and I can only imagine the journey you went through to write such heartfelt feedback.

Today, Dr. Hiliary was on duty, and I had the privilege of reading your story aloud to our team with her present. We were all humbled—and brought to tears—by your gratitude. Your kind words reflect exactly how we feel about Hiliary: she is not only an exceptional doctor but also a remarkable person. We are incredibly fortunate to have her on our team.

Thank you as well for acknowledging our amazing nurses in the Special Care Nursery. It means so much to know they were able to provide your daughter with the care she needed, while also offering you and your family the compassion and support you deserved during what must have been an emotional time. Hearing that you felt your daughter was safe in our care is profoundly gratifying.

I hope life has begun to settle after the events surrounding your daughter’s birth and that you are all finding comfort and joy at home. Wishing you, your daughter, and your family peace and happiness during the festive season and in the years ahead.

Yours sincerely.

Katrina Jones
