"Not listening or helping"

About: GPs in the Forrest Electoral District

(as the patient),

I had a bad experience with a particular Dr. I made an appointment to discuss a mental health issue (suspected OCD)  that I had been facing my entire life. I explained to them in detail my problem, even preparing with a listed record of this issue affecting me and my life starting from age 7 years old. They questioned how serious this actually was. OCD is an obsessive intrusive thought disorder and makes you do things to ease the intrusivethoughts , but takes many forms. I suffer from mental OCD. And the Dr asked me if i had washed my hands or checked doors. Which I replied no.

They said I needed to do my own research to find my own psychologist and i was to make sure they bulked billed if I actually wanted to get help and pushed me out the door in less than 5 minutes. Leaving me pretty upset because they felt very dismissive, and that they didn't believe me in the slightest.

I reached to a different GP who helped me and showed concern from our first meeting, and at the second appointment had helped me refer to a psycologist and started treatment

I had seen the first Dr a number of times before and was really liking them, and was very disappointed when I opened up about a life long issue, it felt like they didn't care and didn't want to help me.
