"Medical Team on Ward 10C"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Breast Cancer Care & Support & Ward 10C

(as the patient),

My recent admission to RPH, Ward 10C for 8 weeks was daunting as city hospitals have a reputation of patients being ‘just a number’.

Well let me tell you, I never once felt as though I was ‘Just a Number’.

I felt part of an extraordinary extended family. Not only as an inpatient but also during visits for further treatments.

From Karen at the front desk doing an amazing job dealing with every kind of situation imaginable. Always with a warm welcome and a quick chat to put you at ease and ensuring 10C is a safe place.

The fantastic group of Doctors, Jacques, Tom, John, Liam and Luke who were open and upfront right from the get go.

Their professional yet casual manner put me at ease and gave me total trust in them. They explained every aspect of my treatment in a way that I could understand making my stay and treatment less daunting.

They made me feel as though I mattered and I could face every challenge head on.

To all the Cobba’s on the nursing staff who were always up for a good ‘Wongy’. What an amazing team you are.

It was a privilege to get to know each and every one of you who cared for me during my stay. Too many to name and I don’t want to leave anyone out. You know who you are.

They allowed my family to be with me every day to assist with my care, bed making and window art.

Their compassion is extraordinary and their banter would make my day.

So to the wonderful team of care givers on Ward 10C, My family and I Thank You All for making my journey tolerable and for the memorable moments I’ll take with me.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2026 to everyone.

Cobba.
